Community activists in the Denver area testify to the crime, transportation, and income problems facing the elderly and to the need for services in this area, as well as in housing.
Abstract
A gerontology student describes problems facing Mexican-American senior citizens, noting that most facilities are in Anglo areas to which the minority elderly must travel. Others discuss high staff turnover rates, ageism as a barrier to employment for the elderly, and the need for restitution and legal services for the elderly. The loneliness that attends aging and the feeling of not being needed or loved are problems that can be solved if society changes its attitudes toward the elderly.
