This annual report on the nature, volume, and extent of crime in Pennsylvania was based on data submitted to the Uniform Crime Reporting program by law enforcement agencies statewide.
Abstract
The categories of offense classification used in Pennsylvania's UCR program mirror those used nationally. Part I offenses include homicide, forcible rape, robbery, assault, burglary, larceny-theft, motor vehicle theft, and arson. Part II offenses include other assaults, forgery and counterfeiting, fraud, embezzlement, stolen property offenses, vandalism, weapons offenses, prostitution, sex offenses, narcotic drug law violations, gambling, domestic offenses, driving under the influence, liquor law violations, drunkenness, disorderly conduct, and other offenses. This report summarizes crime trends in Pennsylvania and tabulates statistics on crime index offenses in general and then specifically for each category of offense. The report also presents figures on persons charged and dispositions, crime victims, and law enforcement employee data. 25 tables, 15 figures, and 4 appendixes
