Abstract
The number of crimes per 1,000 population rose from 34.8 in 1977 to 40.5 in 1981, a 16-percent increase. A total of 64,769 Index offenses were reported to law enforcement agencies in 1981, including 2,805 violent crimes and 61,964 crimes against property. The report gives data on Nebraska crime trends and on the eight crime Index offenses, as well as arrest data, law enforcement employee data, offense and arrest data by county, and data on officers killed or assaulted. Tables and graphs compose most of the report.
