This report summarizes selected offense and arrest information compiled, classified, and analyzed by Nebraska's Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Program for the period 1971-79.
Abstract
An introductory section reviews the UCR Program's history; discusses uniform crime classifications; describes Part I and Part II offenses; and defines crime index, clearances, crime rates, and crime factors. The report focuses on the seven Part I (index) offenses of murder, robbery, felony assault, burglary, larceny-theft, and motor vehicle theft and the general characteristics of Part I and Part II arrests. These data represent UCR information received only from those agencies which consistently reported as distinct agencies during the 9-year period. The data cover statewide index offense rates, violent crime rates, and crime rates for property and larceny-theft crimes as well as index offense frequencies for 1971-79. This report includes statewide arrest data and arrest frequencies for each index offense; characteristics of arrestees; and the distribution of arrests by age, sex, and race. Appendixes contain all index offense and clearance information reported from 1971 to 1979 and a list of UCR agencies which have contributed reports one or more years during the reporting period.
