This report presents statistics on index crimes reported to Nebraska police in 1992, as well as arrests, police employment, police deaths, assaults on police.
Abstract
Results revealed that 45,340 index offenses were reported or known to law enforcement agencies in 1992. These included 2,350 murders, manslaughter cases, forcible rapes, robberies, and felony assaults. The other 42,990 crimes were property crimes, including burglary, larceny-theft, motor vehicle theft, and arson. Larceny-theft accounted for 71 percent of the total crime index. The overall clearance rate was 25.1 percent. Persons under age 18 accounted for 19.5 percent of the total arrests. A total of 211 assaults on law enforcement officers were reported in 1992.
