This report on crime in Michigan during 1993 notes that crime decreased by 1.9 percent from the previous year, although violent crime increased by 3.1 percent.
Abstract
However, property crimes of burglary, larceny, and motor vehicle theft decreased by 4.6 from the previous year. Motor vehicle theft, which decreased 2.4 percent from 1992, is the only index crime that has shown a decrease every year for the past 9 years. Total arrests declined by 3.3 percent in 1993. Juveniles aged 16 and under accounted for 10.2 percent of all those arrested. Statistics are also provided on police officers killed or assaulted, statewide offense and arrest data, offense and arrest data by county and jurisdiction, and the law enforcement agencies participating in the Uniform Crime Reporting program.
