This is a summary of crime in Arkansas during calendar year 1999.
Abstract
This report is based on data submitted by nearly 200 law enforcement agencies as part of the Uniform Crime Reporting program. It is a summary of arrests and offenses known to and reported by law enforcement agencies. It does not include any data concerning prosecution, adjudication or correction, and does not attempt to draw conclusions regarding the causes of crime. The report is divided into 10 sections: (1) The Uniform Crime Reporting Program in Arkansas; (2) Crime Summary; (3) 1999 Crime Index Data; (4) Law Enforcement Officers Assaulted; (5) Crime Index Offenses by Contributor; (6) Value of Stolen and Recovered Property; (7) Arrest Data; (8) Law Enforcement Employee Data; (9) National Incident-Based Crime Reporting System; and (10) Glossary. During 1999, 103,062 serious crimes were reported, with a 25 percent clearance rate. Arkansas’s 1999 crime rate was 4,043 serious crimes for every 100,000 inhabitants. No Arkansas law enforcement officers were killed by felonious means while on duty. However, 257 assaults on officers were reported and 43 percent of those resulted in personal injury to the officer.
