Abstract
The report provides management information needed by the law enforcement community to prevent crime, provides citizens with the most complete crime information available, provides legislators with the information necessary to enact crime prevention laws, and provides data for researchers and planners. Statistics are tabulated on Part I offenses (violent and property crimes) and on Part II offenses. Data are also presented on offense clearances, property stolen and recovered, and arrests. The report indicates that 284,712 crime index offenses were reported in 1993; the crime rate was 7,191.5 crimes per 100,000 population. During 1993, 27,333 violent crimes were reported, 257,379 property crimes were reported, and 255,437 persons were arrested.
