Extensive tables are provided on crime in Arizona during 1978, with emphasis on Part I Index crimes.
Abstract
The tables are based on data collected through the State's Uniform Crime Reporting Program. Following a description of the reporting system, the volume presents a summary of State crime data, an analysis of Part I Index crimes by category, and arrest data for Part I and Part II crimes. Subsequent chapters present data on the numbers and types of law enforcement personnel employed in each county and an analysis of assaults on police officers during the year. The data indicate that 178,430 Index offenses were reported during the year, with 19 percent cleared. Also, 116,339 persons were arrested for crimes, and 2 police officers were killed in 1978. Appendixes present maps, a glossary, a flow chart, and State statutory provisions which apply to the Uniform Crime Reporting Program.
