This book attempts to integrate philosophy with a documented analysis of how philosophy has realized itself through the epidemic of violent crime that plagues America.
Abstract
The author focuses on three themes that explain the growth of violent crime and the social factors that contribute to this phenomenon and impede efforts to reverse its rise. The first section of the book focuses on the inability of local, State, and Federal governments to solve a crime crisis that arises from the spiritual and intellectual attitudes and the values of the population for whom they work. The second theme emphasizes the populace's attempt to explain crime as an outgrowth of external causes rather than as the result of personal decisions. The final theme maintains that Americans remain unwilling to implement actions that will help rectify the situation because stricter enforcement and sentencing policies seem to offer only illusory solutions to a problem that requires dramatic changes.
