SURVEY TO DETERMINE THE EXTENT TO WHICH CRIMINAL ACTIVITY AFFECTS BUSINESS IN AN INNER-CITY AREA.
Abstract
THE SMALL BUSINESS SURVEY CONSISTED OF CONTACTING 19 FIRMS REPRESENTING ALL AREAS OF BUSINESS ACTIVITY, INCLUDING RETAIL STORES, SERVICE, CONSTRUCTION, MANUFACTURING-HARD GOODS, MANUFACTURING-SOFT GOODS, FRANCHISES, AND RETAIL SERVICE. THE SURVEY ALSO ATTEMPTED TO DISTINGUISH BETWEEN 'STREET CRIME' AND 'ORGANIZED CRIME' AND THEIR RESPECTIVE EFFECTS ON BUSINESS ACTIVITY. THE QUESTIONNAIRE USED IS PRESENTED, ALONG WITH A SUMMARY OF FINDINGS.
