In this comparative study of heroin users, alcohol drinkers, and cannabis users, all three groups reported that increased drug use resulted in increased criminal activity.
Abstract
Severity of sentencing for crimes was related to the self-reported crime rate, rather than to the extent or type of drug use. The study suggests that crime prevention should focus on the criminals rather than on particular type of drug use. 32 references. Tabular data. (Author abstract modified)
