OUTLINE OF THE ORGANIZATION, JURISDICTION, AND PROCEDURES OF COURTS PROCESSING OFFENDERS BETWEEN THE AGES OF 6 AND 18 ESTABLISHED IN IRAN IN 1959.
Abstract
THE JUVENILE COURTS CONSIST OF A JUDGE AND 5 COUNSELLORS APPOINTED BY THE MINISTER OF JUSTICE BY SENIOR JUDGES. THE COURTS DISTINGUISH BETWEEN 4 AGE CATEGORIES OF MINORS: UNDER 6, 6 TO 12, 12 TO 15, AND 15 TO 18. THE LAW STIPULATES THAT OFFENDERS UNDER 18 MAY BE SUBJECTED ONLY TO RESOCIALIZATION MEASURES. --IN FRENCH
