Abstract
An average of 35,009 inmates were in county detention facilities during the month, a decrease of 0.7 percent from July. A total of 71.8 percent were incarcerated for felony offenses, 21.7 percent for misdemeanors, and 6.5 percent for other reasons. Offenders held for trial represented 56.7 percent of the inmate population, while 26.5 percent were sentenced on either felony or misdemeanor crimes. Inmates detained for probation violations represented 8.6 percent of the inmate population. Eight of the 67 counties in the State had average daily inmates that exceeded their rated capacity between 1 and 25 percent. Tables, figures, and maps
