This report describes activities of the Alaska Council on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault during FY 2000.
Abstract
The Council, established within the Department of Public Safety, was responsible for planning and coordinating services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault and their families and to perpetrators of domestic violence and sexual assault and to provide for crisis intervention and prevention programs. The report presented data on Federal Funding Sources, Program Data, and Overview of Issues. Program highlights during FY 2000 included: (1) providing 3,020 prevention presentations/trainings to 92,761 participants statewide; (2) creating websites to make anonymous and immediate support and information readily available; (3) working with schools to implement a Peace Maker Program for students; and (4) working with police to organize a community forum to bring owners and managers of local businesses together to discuss robbery and employee safety. Council goals for FY 2001 include implementing a statewide data collection system, completing a prevention video for teens, and evaluating Violence Against Women projects. Figures, tables
