THE THEORETICAL AND DEVELOPMENTAL HISTORY OF CRIMINAL RESTITUTION AND VICTIM COMPENSATION IS REVIEWED, LEADING TO THE AUTHOR'S ADVOCACY OF A COMBINATION OF MODERN CORRECTIONAL PUNSIHMENT WITH RESTITUTION.
Abstract
THE AUTHOR'S CONCEPT OF CORRECTIONAL RESTITUTION WOULD HAVE AN OFFENDER MAKE RESTITUTION TO HIS VICTIM THROUGH HIS PERSONAL WORK WHILE AT LIBERTY AFTER HAVING SERVED HIS PUNISHMENT. THE RESTITUTION EFFORT WOULD BE VIEWED NOT AS AN EXTENSION BUT RATHER AN INTEGRAL PART OF THE SENTENCE, THUS RETAINING RESTITUTION'S REFORMATIVECORRECTIVE NATURE.
