REFERENCES TO BOOKS AND PERIODICAL LITERATURE DEALING WITH CORRECTIONAL INSTITUTION PERSONNEL AND PERSONNEL ADMINISTRATION ARE PRESENTED IN THIS BRIEF BIBLIOGRAPHY.
Abstract
THE BIBLIOGRAPHY INCLUDES REFERENCES TO PERIODICAL LITERATURE AND TO BOOKS PUBLISHED AFTER 1972. THE SCOPE IS LIMITED TO PERSONNEL WHO ARE INVOLVED WITH INCARCERATED PRISONERS AND IS NOT CONCERNED WITH PAROLE OFFICERS OR HALFWAY HOUSE ADMINISTRATORS; VOLUNTEER WORKERS WHO ARE INVOLVED IN THE PRISON ENVIRONMENT ARE INCLUDED. APPROXIMATELY 80 ENTRIES ARE PROVIDED. THE ARRANGEMENT IS ALPHABETICAL BY AUTHOR, OR BY TITLE. IF THE WORK IS NOT PUBLISHED IN ENGLISH, THE LANGUAGE OF THE PUBLICATION IS INDICATED IN BRACKETS AFTER THE CITATION. THE BIBLIOGRAPHY WOULD BE MOST USEFUL TO CORRECTIONAL PERSONNEL ADMINISTRATORS AND RESEARCHERS WHO WISH TO OBTAIN MATERIALS UPDATING KNOWLEDGE OF THE FIELD, SINCE MOST ENTRIES ARE PUBLISHED IN THE MIDDLE AND LATE 1970'S. SOME EXAMPLES OF SUBJECTS DEALT WITH IN LISTED WORKS ARE WOMEN IN PRISON ADMINISTRATION, THE CORRECTIONS OFFICER SUBCULTURE AND ORGANIZATIONAL CHANGE, LONG-TERM STRESS IN PRISON GUARDS, THE DESIRABILITY OF A CORRECTIONAL OMBUDSMAN, AND NATIONAL SURVEYS OF STATE CORRECTIONAL OFFICERS.
