BOTH THE NATIONAL AND REGIONAL INSTITUTES REPRESENT AN ATTEMPT TO SHARE THE BEST AVAILABLE KNOWLEDGE AND THINKING IN CORRECTIONAL ADMINISTRATION.
Abstract
THE NEED FOR PLANNING, TRAINING, AND RESEARCH WAS EMPHASIZED IN EACH OF THE INSTITUTES. THE ROLE OF CORRECTIONAL OFFICERS AND OF INSTITUTIONAL AND STATE ADMINISTRATORS WAS EXAMINED AS CORRECTIONAL OBJECTIVES AND INSTITUTIONAL CHANGE WERE DISCUSSED. PROGRAM DEVELOPMENTS IN COMMUNITY CORRECTIONS AND IN THE TREATMENT AND CLASSIFICATION OF OFFENDERS WERE EXCHANGED. IT WAS HOPED THAT SUCH REGIONAL AND NATIONAL INTERACTION WOULD LEAD TO PARALLEL PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT AMONG STATES.
