This manual is intended for the participants in a course focusing on how personnel involved in drug treatment and probation or parole can cooperate more effectively when dealing with drug-abusing offenders.
Abstract
The course aims to provide participants both with new skills for more effectively intervening with drug-involved offenders and the resolve to coordinate the efforts with these individuals. The training consists of nine modules. Topics include (1) introduction and training goals, (2) common clients and issues for probation and parole agencies and drug treatment programs, (3) clarification of systems and roles, (4) communication, (5) teamwork and conflict management, (6) confidentiality, (7) managing the drug- involved offender, (8) internal implementation, and (9) interagency partnerships.
