A call for quality correctional education has been voiced by leading federal officials. While focused on adult programs, efforts to upgrade correctional education programs will inevitably benefit juvenile offenders.

When combined with experiences in an effective detention education program, a model for the content and process of detention education programming is presented. (Author abstract)
