This text explains the development, purpose, and nature of international law and details principles relating to issues such as the jurisdiction of countries, international law relating to individual people and human rights, international agreements and cooperation, and law governing international dispute settlement and the use of force.
Abstract
Individual sections discuss the relationship between international law and other law, methods and principles for creating international law, the subjects of international law, and concepts such as sovereign immunity and nonintervention. Other sections examine the concepts of boundaries and spatial sovereignty, the meanings of personal and material jurisdiction, the law relating to aliens, international laws relating to nationals, treaties, political and economic cooperation, and environmental protection. Further chapters focus on methods of conflict resolution, conditions for the lawful use of force, the position of countries not involved in war, and trends and changes in international law.
