Abstract
THE FIRST AMDENMENT RIGHTS OF INMATES TO GAIN ACCESS TO THE PRESS, NEWSMEN TO GATHER INFORMATION, AND THE PUBLIC TO KNOW ARE REVIEWED AND AN ASSESSEMENT OF THE IMPACT OF THE DECISION PRESENTED. THE AUTHOR CONCLUDES THAT THE PUBLIC'S RIGHT TO KNOW IS SUBJECT TO REASONABLE CONSTRAINTS WHEN CONFRONTED WITH COMPETING GOVERNMENTAL INTERESTS.
