PRISON DISCIPLINE IS THE FOCAL POINT AROUND WHICH THE VARIOUS GROUPS IN THE PRISON (INMATES, GUARDS, AND THERAPISTS) REVOLVE AND INTERACT.
Abstract
A KNOWLEDGE OF HOW DISCIPLINE FITS INTO THE SOCIAL STRUCTURE OF THE PRISON IS NEEDED TO EFFECTIVELY RUN ANY REHABILITATION PROGRAM. DISCIPLINE SHOULD BE VIEWED AS AN EXTENSION OF THE TREATMENT. CUSTODY-TREATMENT CONFLICTS CAN BE RESOLVED ONLY WHEN THE ROLE-CONFLICTS OF THE CUSTODIAL AND TREATMENT STAFFS ARE RESOLVED AND THESE CAN BE RESOLVED ONLY WHEN GROUP INTERACTION PROGRAMS USE PRISON DISCIPLINE AS PART OF THE TREATMENT PROCESS.
