This report details the activities and accomplishments of Connecticut's drug law enforcement program operated by the Statewide Narcotics Task Force (SNTF) established in 1977.
Abstract
The SNTF is part of the Connecticut State Police and has a legislative mandate for the cooperative enforcement of Connecticut laws concerning the manufacture, distribution, sale, and possession of narcotics and controlled substances. The SNTF has an administrative section and five field offices covering all areas of the State. The SNTF conduced 2,650 investigations and made 1,650 arrests during the year. Both arrests and investigations decreased from the previous year. However, investigations have increased an average of 7.8 percent per year and arrests have increased an average of approximately 20 percent per year over the past 4 years. The Task Force has purchased night vision equipment, thermal imaging equipment, and audio and video equipment to enhance its investigative capabilities and personnel safety. Training is also a major focus. During the next year the Task Force expected to complete its vehicle radio project. Figures, tables, and map
