STUDY TO DETERMINE THE CHANGES OF ATTITUDES OF PRISON ADMINISTRATORS TOWARD THE IDEA OF CONJUGAL VISITATIONS.
Abstract
SEVENTY-THREE PERSONAL INQUIRIES WERE SENT TO PRISON WARDENS REPRESENTING INSTITUTIONS IN THE UNITED STATES AND CANADA. OF THE FIFTY-TWO ADMINISTRATORS RESPONDING, 3.8 CHOSE TO REFER THE MATTER TO A HIGHER ADMINISTRATIVE SOURCE, 11.5 PERCENT WERE NONCOMMITTAL, 13.4 PERCENT FAVORED CONJUGAL VISITATIONS, 56.0 PERCENT WERE OPPOSED, AND 15.3 PERCENT WERE UNDECIDED. THE ARTICLE DISCUSSED THE REASONS GIVEN BY THOSE ANSWERING THE QUESTIONNAIRE, AND INCLUDED QUOTATIONS FROM THE PRISON ADMINISTRATORS.
