This report summarizes the goals and objectives of New York's counties in improving educational services for neglected and delinquent youth jailed throughout the State. Specific regional analyses are provided.
Abstract
Data were collected on attitudes toward jail education, the educational programs themselves, security provisions for teachers, recordkeeping, space and funding limitations, staffing needs, and legal responsibilities. Current services, projected needs, and goals for about 15 New York counties are outlined. Appendixes list conference participants and supply jail population data.
