THE STATESVILLE (IL) MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEM (SMIS) PROVIDES MANAGEMENT INFORMATION ON INSTITUTIONAL MOVEMENTS ON A DAILY BASIS.
Abstract
THE SYSTEM, BASED ON A MASTER INMATE FILE CONTAINING DATA RELEVANT TO DAILY OPERATIONS AND SUPPORTED BY A SERIES OF TRANSLATING DIRECTORIES, AUGMENTS THE ABILITY OF THE STATEVILLE EXECUTIVE STAFF TO FUNCTION AS MANAGERS IN THE CORPORATE SENSE--SETTING GOALS AND OBJECTIVES, IMPLEMENTING THEIR ACHIEVEMENT, AND CRITICALLY EVALUATING SUBSEQUENT PERFORMANCE. SMIS OUTPUT, HOWEVER, ALSO INCLUDES DAILY 'PRODUCTION' DOCUMENTS THAT SUPPORT LINE STAFF DELIVERY CAPABILITIES. IN ADDITION TO TRACKING AND REPORTING UTILIZATION OF INSTITUTIONAL RESOURCES IN THE AREAS OF HOUSING, ASSIGNMENTS, AND STAFF, SMIS INCLUDES ON-LINE CONVERSATIONAL INQUIRY FOR INSTANT DATA BASE ACCESS.
