Abstract
THE LAW INFORMATION NETWORK OF KENTUCKY WAS ESTABLISHED THROUGH FUNDING UNDER THE FEDERAL OMNIBUS CRIME CONTROL BILL. THE COMPUTER IS TIED DIRECTLY TO THE NATIONAL CRIME INFROMATION CENTER IN WASHINGTON. WHILE THE KENTUCKY COMPUTER IS SEARCHING FOR INFORMATION, THE COMPUTER IN WASHINGTON CONDUCTS THE SAME SEARCH. THE KENTUCKY INFORMATION CENTER HOLDS DATA ON WANTED PERSONS. STOLEN VEHICLES, STOLEN PLATES, STOLEN GUNS, AND STOLEN ARTICLES. THE WASHINGTON COMPUTER PROVIDES NATIONAL INFORMATION IN THE SAME AREAS ALONG WITH INFORMATION ON STOLEN BOATS, AND STOLEN SECURITIES. LESS THAN A MINUTE AFTER THE INITIAL REQUEST FOR INFORMATION, THE DATA IS GIVEN TO THE INQUIRER.
