A SUCCESSFUL INVESTIGATION OF COMPUTER SHUT DOWNS BY STUDENT PRANKSTERS ILLUSTRATES THE NEED TO IMPROVE POLICE CAPABILITIES FOR DEALING WITH COMPUTER CRIME.
Abstract
TWO DAYS OF ORIENTATION WERE REQUIRED TO BRIEF INVESTIGATORS ON TERMINOLOGY. THE SUBSEQUENT INVESTIGATION REVEALED THAT AUTHORIZED STUDENT OPERATORS OF THE WAYNE STATE UNIVERSITY COMPUTER CAUSED COSTLY SYSTEM SHUT DOWNS USING A SELF-ERASING PROGRAM.
