Ninety-eight inmates of a large men's prison were administered a family questionnaire for this research. The perceptions of inmates with and without drug abuse problems were compared in the following areas: characteristics of parents, characteristics of stepparents, violence in the family, and planned future contact with parents.
Abstract
The results showed that inmates with drug abuse problems perceived their fathers more negatively than inmates without drug problems but that there were very few differences between the ways these groups of inmates perceived their mothers. Implications for treatment were discussed. (Author abstract)
