STATISTICAL RESEARCH PROJECT CONDUCTED IN TEXAS PRISONS TO IDENTIFY THE BACKGROUND CHARACTERISTICS OF FIRST OFFENDERS, RECIDIVISTS, AND HABITUAL OFFENDERS.
Abstract
THE THREE DISTINCT INMATE POPULATIONS ARE COMPARED AND CONTRASTED THROUGH A VARIETY OF DATA, INCLUDING SOCIAL CHARACTERISTICS, EDUCATION AND INTELLIGENCE, PRIOR CRIMINAL HISTORY, OFFENSE INFORMATION, AND INSTITUTIONAL BEHAVIOR. A MODEL OF THE TYPICAL OFFENDER FOR EACH OF THE THREE INMATE TYPES IS DERIVED FROM CENTRAL TENDENCY STATISTICAL DATA.
