COMPARISON OF THE WAYS IN WHICH FOUR WISCONSIN POLICE DEPARTMENTS COMPLY WITH THE SUPREME COURT'S MIRANDA V ARIZONA (1966) DECISION IN RELATION TO EACH DEPARTMENT'S DEGREE OF PROFESSIONALIZATION.
Abstract
THE PROFESSIONALIZATION CONCEPT WAS HELPFUL IN EXPLAINING THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN INFORMATION SOURCES AVAILABLE TO THE DEPARTMENTS ON MIRANDA AND THE PERCEPTIONS AND ATTITUDES OF MEMBERS TOWARD THE DECISION. HE RECOMMENDS THE COMPARISON OF A LARGE NUMBER OF ORGANIZATIONS TO STUDY THE CORRELATION BETWEEN PROFESSIONALISM IN A POLICE DEPARTMENT AND TIS TENDENCY TO COMPLY WITH SUPREME COURT REQUIREMENTS.
