AMONG THE TOPICS DISCUSSED IN THIS ARTICLE ARE THE ORIGINS OF THE COMMUNITY SERVICE ALTERNATIVE, THE WORKINGS OF THE COMMUNITY SERVICE PROGRAM, THE AGES AND TYPES OF PARTICIPATING OFFENDERS, THE AVAILABLE TYPES OF COMMUNITY SERVICE, THE PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED IN THE USE OF THIS PROGRAM, AND THE RECEPTION THIS PROGRAM HAS RECEIVED FROM OFFENDERS, THE PROBATION SERVICE, AND THE PUBLIC.
