A STUDY OF BRITISH RACE RELATIONS AND A SUGGESTION FOR THE APPOINTMENT OF A POLICE-COMMUNITY LIAISON OFFICER.
Abstract
THE PROBLEMS IN ENGLAND RESEMBLE CURRENT AMERICAN DIFFICULTIES IN RACE RELATIONS BUT ARE COMPOUNDED BY THE ADDITIONAL FACTORS OF AN IMMIGRANT CULTURE. THESE INCLUDE LANGUAGE PROBLEMS, RESISTANCE TO ASSIMILATION AND HIGH DENSITY CONCENTRATION IN SELF-IMPOSED GHETTOS. POLICE AWARENESS OF THESE CIRCUMSTANCES IS SUGGESTED AS A PARTIAL SOLUTION TO A TENSE SITUATION.
