STATEMENT ON PROGRESS, PRESENT STATE OF EVOLUTION, STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES, AND RECOMMENDED REVISIONS FOR A SYSTEM OF INCREASINGLY PRIVILEGED RESIDENCE UNITS.
Abstract
THE EMPHASIS OF THE INCENTIVE PROGRAM IS ON DEVELOPMENT AND REINFORCEMENT OF POSITIVE BEHAVIOR AND ACTIONS. THE FIVE SEPARATE LIVING UNITS ARE THE BASIS OF THE REWARD SYSTEM, ALLOWING DEGREES OF PRIVILEGES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ASSOCIATED WITH EACH UNIT. MAJOR CRITICISMS OF THE PROGRAM INCLUDE LACK OF DISCIPLINE AND INEQUITABLE DISCIPLINE. RECOMMENDATIONS TO SOLVE THESE PROBLEMS INCLUDE SUBMISSION OF BEHAVIOR EVALUATIONS ON RESIDENTS TWICE A MONTH. A SUGGESTED ORGANIZED APPROACH TO TREATMENT CONSISTS OF STEPS OF BEHAVIOR MODIFICATION OR REHABILITATION WHICH CORRELATE WITH THE NUMBER OF HOUSING WINGS OR TREATMENT TEAMS WITHIN THE INSTITUTION. THE APPENDIX CONTAINS DESCRIPTIONS OF THE INCENTIVE PROGRAM, THE INCENTIVE COMMITTEE, INCENTIVE LEVEL CHANGES, APPLICATIONS FOR THE VARIOUS WINGS AND LEAVE, SUPERVISORS' RATING SHEETS, AND A SAMPLE INSTITUTIONAL CUMULATIVE SUMMARY. A PAPER DISCUSSING GUIDELINES FOR THE EFFECTIVE APPLICATION OF APPLICATION OF REWARDS AND PUNISHMENTS IS INCLUDED.
