This document presents the text of Virginia laws regarding privacy and security related to criminal history information and other types of records.
Abstract
The laws focus on the functions of the central criminal records exchange, the dissemination of criminal history record information, reports made by local law enforcement officers and others, fingerprints and photographs by police authorities, and expungement of criminal records. Other sections focus on other types of State public records, the maintenance of records, access to records, the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and the Privacy Protection Act of 1976. The State regulations relating to criminal history record information use and security are also presented.
