This book aims to help clergy to understand the unique grief process that families who are victims of violent crime must endure and the special problems that the criminal justice system presents to the grief process.
Abstract
The content emerges from several workshops held in 1988 for clergy sponsored by the Parents of Murdered Children of the Miami, Florida chapter. Topics covered included the increase in violent death and the need for ministry, the information that clergy must know and keep in mind when first responding to the victim's family, the long-term concerns and needs of the victim's family, a grief intervention guide for the clergy, and approaches to help the clergy caregivers care for themselves. The book offers practical guidance and suggestions for ministering to the families who are victims of violent crime and includes a reading list and a list of organizations that provide information and support. 40 references
