EXPERIMENT WHICH TESTED THE EFFECTIVENESS OF A PRISONER DATA INVENTORY FORM FOR DETERMINING THE DEGREE OF REQUIRED JAIL SUPERVISION AND HOUSING ASSIGNMENTS.
Abstract
THE INVENTORY WAS APPLIED IN SIX JAILS WHICH HAD DIFFERENT PRISONER CAPACITIES AND KINDS OF OPERATIONS. IT WAS FOUND THAT THE INVENTORY WAS A USEFUL TOOL FOR IDENTIFYING PRISONER TYPES AND CORRECTIONAL NEEDS. THE TEST ALSO PROVED THAT THE INVENTORY WAS A VALID MEANS FOR ESTIMATING THE DEGREE OF SUPERVISION REQUIRED FOR PRISONERS - MAXIMUM, MEDIUM, OR MINIMUM. NEITHER POSITIVE OR NEGATIVE RESULTS WERE PRODUCED ON ITS USEFULNESS FOR PREDICTING INMATE BEHAVIOR OR HOUSING ASSIGNMENTS.
