ADAPTATION OF A POLICE INFORMATION SYSTEM FOR USE ON A MEDIUM-SIZED COMPUTER WITH MINIMUM PERIPHERAL EQUIPMENT, BRINGING HARDWARE COSTS DOWN.
Abstract
CLEAR II IS THE NEW VERSION OF THE CINCINNATI/HAMILTON COUNTY SUCCESSFUL COUNTY LAW ENFORCEMENT APPLIED REGIONALLY (CLEAR). THE COMMUNICATIONS-ORIENTED DATA BASE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM FEATURES QUICK ACCESS INDICES, RAPID RESPONSE TO INQUIRIES FROM REMOTE TERMINALS, AND ON-LINE UPDATE OF LAW ENFORCEMENT RECORDS THROUGH REMOTE TERMINALS. THE FLEXIBILITY OF THE SOFTWARE IN BOTH SYSTEMS ALLOWS THEM TO BE ADAPTED TO SERVE AS A CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM AND TO HANDLE ADDITIONAL GOVERNMENT FUNCTIONS - PUBLIC FINANCE, HUMAN RESOURCES, ECONOMIC AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEVELOPMENT. INFORMATION IN THE DATA BASE CAN BE MODIFIED OR UPDATED WITHOUT FILE ORGANIZATION OR REMOTE TERMINAL OR CENTRAL COMPUTER OPERATOR INTERVENTION. (AUTHOR MODIFIED)
