This 1992 Annual Report of the Cincinnati Police Division presents narrative descriptions of the work of the various bureaus and statistics pertinent to police operations.
Abstract
Crime, especially violent crime, continues to be a major priority for the division. The use of guns during the commission of crimes is an increasing problem. Juveniles' involvement in crime is also increasing. The division continues to emphasize community-oriented policing, and one goal in the coming year is to increase this form of policing throughout the division. The division is about to enter the final phase of the restructuring project, which involves shifting from a "top down" management style to application of "total-quality" management. The Patrol Bureau, Investigations Bureau, Support Bureau, Resource Bureau, and Administration Bureau present reports on their operations. Other sections of the report provide information on the growth of the Cincinnati Police Division, award recipients, official commendations, and retirements. Statistics address the annual budget and expenditures, personnel salary scale, calls-for-service, offenses, clearance rate, arrests, officers assaulted, auto accidents, and traffic enforcement.
