This self-paced course covers children in the Arizona legal system and has been designed and constructed as a basic training and reference text for persons who work within Arizona's juvenile justice system.
Abstract
The course is based primarily on statutory provisions of Title 8 of the Arizona Revised Statutes, and it brings into a single focus the statutes, case law, and juvenile court rules. New employees working in the broad areas of the juvenile court and child welfare services, along with more experienced workers, should be able to use the course manual as a policy and procedure guide. Course sections concern public policy development and implementation, the historical development of juvenile law, Arizona juvenile court jurisdiction and procedures, child protective services, child welfare and placement, and the termination of parental rights. The Indian Child Welfare Act is provided, as well as a key to examination questions that accompany each course section.
