In accordance with Florida statutes, Florida's Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services reports on the department's activities designed to comply with State legislation on the prevention of child abuse and neglect.
Abstract
The report summarizes the department's intent and activities undertaken to meet legislative requirements, legislative background, data on the Interprogram Task Force, information on districts' child abuse and neglect prevention task forces, and the need for prevention services. A statewide analysis encompasses the scope and nature of child abuse conditions and needs, variations based on population or geographic areas, and problems and obstacles. A description of the continuum of services necessary for a comprehensive approach for the prevention of child abuse and neglect is also presented. The plan for detection and intervention presents efforts and implementation activities for instructing appropriate liaisons on prevention of child abuse and neglect. Goals and objectives are presented for the Florida Committee for the Prevention of Child Abuse. Appended data statewide and by district; 9-item bibliography.
