Sixteen papers analyze cases brought before the Ontario Child Welfare Act (Canada) in 1983, using all available unpublished judicial opinions in Ottawa to describe factors guiding agency and court decisionmaking and exploring special evidentiary considerations.
Abstract
Cases examined pertain to physical abuse, physical endangerment, physical neglect, sexual abuse, and medical neglect. Other topics discussed in these cases relate to euthanasia, emotional abuse, emotional neglect, improper ethical supervision, educational neglect, and abandonment. Additional cases concern mentally ill and mentally retarded parents, alcohol- and drug-addicted parents, temporary wardship, and the criminal prosecution of parents. Reference notes.
