This manual is designed to aid adolescents and adults to develop projects to reduce crime or the fear of crime, assist crime victims, or otherwise make the community a safer and better place to live, work, and attend school.
Abstract
Adult trainers are urged to use this manual to promote projects in which youth take on significant responsibility. The workbook presents two quizzes and answers on crime and drug abuse causes and prevention. A simple planning format is presented using five steps. It covers definitions and needs assessment, tools for decisionmaking, ways to assess and acquire resources and volunteers, methods of carrying out the plan, and techniques for evaluating and monitoring progress. Crime statistics, drug prevention data, and examples and ideas for youth-led community crime prevention projects are also included.
