Abstract
THE FIRST READING WHILE ADDRESSING THE SPECIFICS OF A PARTICULAR 'TEAM POLICING' CONCEPT, ALSO COVERS SEVERAL BASIC POLICE MANAGEMENT ISSUES: ACCOUNTABILITY OF POLICE EMPLOYEES: DIFFERENTIATION OF ROLES, FUNCTIONS, AND TYPES OF ORGANIZATIONS; HOW TO DECIDE WHEN TO APPLY GENERALIST AND SPECIALIST TYPES OF LABOR; AND HOW TO MOTIVATE POLICE EMPLOYEES. THE SECOND PRESENTATION DESCRIBES THE USE OF TASK FORCES FOR CHANGE IN THE KANSAS CITY POLICE DEPARTMENT. IN THE THIRD ARTICLE, CLARENCE KELLY DESCRIBED THE GUIDING PRINCIPLES WHICH HE FEELS HAVE BEEN MOST IMPORTANT IN HIS STYLE OF MANAGEMENT.
