Abstract
THE DEVELOPMENT OF GOALS FOR THE TRAINING PROGRAM AND DETERMINING CURRICULUM CONTENT WERE DISCUSSED IN PART ONE OF THIS ARTICLE (SEE NCJ-14833). PART TWO DISCUSSES THE POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE ASPECTS OF DIFFERENT METHODS OF INSTRUCTION. CONSIDERED ARE LECTURES, DEMONSTRATIONS, ROLE PLAYING, DIRECTED DISCUSSIONS, CONFERENCES, TRAINING GROUPS, SENSITIVITY TRAINING, AND THE HOUSTON MODIFICATION, A METHOD OF ATTITUDE CONFRONTATION AND EXCHANGE STRUCTURED TO ALLOW FOR A POSITIVE AFTERTASTE. THE CRITERIA FOR SELECTING POLICE INSTRUCTORS - JOB KNOWLEDGE, ACCEPTABILITY, PERSONALITY, AND TEACHING SKILLS ARE ALSO DISCUSSED.
