The Center for the Study and Prevention of Violence (CSPV) was created with the long-term mission of building an interdisciplinary foundation for understanding and preventing violence over the life course.
Abstract
The initial commitment of the Center is to focus on youth violence, since the adolescent years are the critical time in which serious violent behavior is initiated. Specific topics that the Center addresses include gang violence, drugs and youth violence, violence in the media, adolescent use of weapons, family issues, and adolescent involvement in sexual violence. The CSPV Information House staff operates databases, reviews the literature in targeted subjects, and participates in conferences and meetings. CSPV has received and responded to many requests for technical assistance services, including evaluation design consultation, data analysis, information and consultation on funding for long-term evaluation, and proposal review.
