PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE STENTRAN ELECTRONIC TRANSCRIBER AND THE MECHANICAL ASPECTS OF USING THE MACHINE FOR COURT REPORTING.
Abstract
THE STENTRAN SYSTEM PROVIDES FOR AN INTRODUCTORY TRAINING SESSION DURING WHICH THERE IS AN ANALYSIS OF THE REPORTER'S PERSONAL WRITING STYLE TO ESTABLISH AN INDIVIDUAL DICTIONARY. THE STENOTYPE MACHINE ITSELF RECORDS THROUGH A SERIES OF CASSETTES. THE CASSETTES ARE TRANSLATED AND STORED IN A MINICOMPUTER. A TRANSCRIPT CAN BE OBTAINED THROUGH A HIGH SPPED COMPUTER PRINTER. SEVERAL OF THE SYSTEM'S MECHANICAL FEATURES - THE CRIB SHEET AND MECHANIZED NOTEREADER - ARE EXPLAINED FULLY. FOR THE SECOND PART OF THIS DISCUSSION, WHICH FOCUSES ON WRITING TECHNIQUE, SEE NCJ-34569.
