PRELIMINARY REPORT ON OFFENSE REDUCTION DATA BY THE NEIGHBORHOOD OFFICES OF THE CASE MANAGEMENT CORRECTIONS SERVICES (CMCS) PROJECT, A PROJECT OF THE PORTLAND IMPACT CITIES PROGRAM.
Abstract
CMCS WAS ESTABLISHED TO REDUCE THE REPETITION OF TARGET OFFENSES BY JUVENILE OFFENDERS IN HIGH CRIME AREAS OF THE CITY THROUGH THE PROVISION OF INTENSIVE PROBATION COUNSELING AND SUPERVISION SERVICES IN HIGH CRIME NEIGHBORHOODS. DATA IN THE REPORT INDICATE THAT ALL OFFICES SHOW A REDUCTION IN TARGET OFFENSES FOR ONE TIME TARGET OFFENDERS AND INCREASES IN STATUS AND OTHER OFFENSES FOR CLIENTS WHO HAD NOT PREVIOUSLY OFFENDED IN THESE CATEGORIES. FOR OTHER EVALUATIONS OF THE PROJECT, SEE NCJ-28856, 29684, 36501, AND 36503.
