THE U.S. DEPARTMENTS OF JUSTICE AND TRANSPORTATION, IN 1974, CREATED 'CARGO SECURITY WORKING GROUPS' IN FIFTEEN MAJOR CITIES TO PROMOTE MORE EFFECTIVE SECURITY EFFORTS AND TO COORDINATE AND INSPIRE EFFECTIVE LAW ENFORCEMENT.
Abstract
UNITED STATES ATTORNEYS HAVE BEEN SERVING AS CHAIRMEN OF THESE GROUPS. PARTICIPANTS INCLUDE CARRIER EXECUTIVES, DISTRICT ATTORNEYS, SHIPPERS, F.B.I. AGENTS, UNION LEADERS, AND POLICE OFFICERS.
